Greek Traffic Police Oversee the Return of Citizens and Tourists After the Summer Holidays
The Attica region is witnessing an increasing return of citizens and tourists following the end of the August holidays. Traffic is flowing smoothly on the main roads while the Traffic Police continue to closely monitor the situation to ensure a safe and seamless return for everyone.
Official data revealed that nearly 53000 vehicles returned within the past 24 hours via the AthensCorinth highway while more than 31000 vehicles were recorded on the AthensLamia route. At the same time approximately 65000 vehicles departed through both highways.
During midday long queues stretching for several kilometers were observed at the Elefsina toll booths however traffic gradually returned to normal later in the day.
The Greek Traffic Police confirmed that they remain on high alert deploying officers at toll stations and along national highways to facilitate traffic flow and ensure the safe return of both citizens and tourists.
