Large parts of the country — including the Ionian Islands Epirus western and central Sterea southern and central Peloponnese eastern and central Macedonia and Thrace — are being hit by severe storms accompanied by hail and strong winds. Attica has also witnessed heavy rainfall since early morning disrupting daily activity.

According to forecasts the Eastern Aegean islands the Dodecanese Crete and the Cyclades will see dense cloud cover and scattered rain while more intense storms will strike inland areas especially in the west and north. The impact of the storm is evident through a noticeable drop in temperatures ranging between 17 and 23°C depending on the region.

Macedonia and Thrace are facing heavy rainfall and strong southern winds while the Ionian Islands and Epirus are bracing for additional storms with winds reaching 7 Beaufort. Unstable weather conditions are also spreading across Thessaly Evia central Greece and the southeastern regions.

Forecasts for Friday indicate continued rain and thunderstorms across most of the country with the possibility of snowfall in the mountainous regions of northern and western Greece alongside strong winds and a further drop in temperatures. On Saturday and Sunday unstable weather is expected to persist with intermittent rainfall and a gradual weakening of severe phenomena.

Amid these rapidly evolving conditions authorities urge citizens to stay cautious avoid unnecessary travel and follow weather updates closely — especially as storm Adel remains one of the strongest weather systems to affect Greece this month.
