Greece braces for a new storm: Heavy rain and strong winds this weekend
Severe weather in Greece: Heavy rain storms and strong winds on September 27-28
The National Meteorological Service of Greece issued an emergency bulletin warning of severe weather conditions expected this weekend.
According to the bulletin a weather front from Italy will arrive on Saturday evening September 27 2025 and will continue until Sunday night September 28 2025. Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected during this period.
The areas most affected will be the Ionian Islands including Zakynthos Kefalonia Ithaca and Lefkada. Western regions such as AetoliaAcarnania as well as the prefectures of Achaia Ilia and Messinia in western Peloponnese are also expected to be hit.

Authorities also issued a warning for strong winds ranging from 7 to 8 Beaufort across the Aegean Sea which may disrupt maritime traffic and increase risks in coastal areas.
The government has urged residents to follow official updates and take precautionary measures to avoid risks from floods storms and severe rainfall.
